Australia’s The Amenta formed in 2000 from the ashes of several Sydney death and black metal bands. In 2002 The Amenta's debut MCD 'Mictlan' featuring 4 tracks of intellectual decay was recorded and released independently, receiving excellent reviews worldwide in the underground press. In 2004 The Amenta recorded their Debut album entitled 'Occasus'..
Occasus was engineered and mixed by Lachlan Mitchell, Keyboardist for Australian black metal legends, Nazxul. The recording process spanned 5 months from January to May 2004 and took place in many different studios throughout Sydney, finally being mixed at the newly refurbished BJB studios and mastered at Studios 301. Occasus consists of 10 songs incorporating elements from both black and death metal as well as noise and industrial music : ten laments for human stagnancy displaying waves of harsh metallics and ominous electronics that don’t bow to traditions or dogma.

• Released Erebus video clip filmed by Entropy Films
• ‘Occasus’ Voted #4 in JJJ 3 Hours of Power top 5 Australian albums 2004
• Voted Best New Band 2004 in Australian Kerrang! Awards.
• Voted 2nd best new artist UK’s Terrorizer readers poll tieing with Damageplan
• 2005 ‘Mictlan’ limited edition vinyl released through UK’s Dissident Records
• 2005 Embarked on headlining national tour plus two other Australian tours as direct support to Alchemist
• 2006 – National direct support for Poland’s Behemoth national tour.
• 2nd album ‘non’ scheduled for release in October 2007.
• Occasus Limited Edition re-release CD/DVD scheduled for release in June 2007 containing ‘Mictlan EP’, ‘Virus’ DVD and ‘Soundtrack to a Hidden Earth’ EP
• Direct support to The Berzerker and Akercocke on the Festival of the Dead national tour in October 2007
European tour being planned for November / December 2007
