LINEUP:
It all started around a year ago, the domestic Israeli scene saw the end of local death metal legends BETRAYER (1992-2001) and the black metal cult AZAZEL (1995-2001), both bands’ members wanted to continue their activities within the fields of the metal scene but set up something which fitted their own style as composers/lyricists/writers, and generally artists.
Therefore, Yishai Swearts (Vocalist and leader of BETRAYER) joined forced with Alex Schuster, Evil Haim and Miko (Guitar Player, Bass Player and Drummer of AZAZEL), and NAIL WITHIN came to earth..
The band started to rehearse and write material for a debut album while looking for a second guitar player, the band recruited Matan Cohen (Guitar Player for BETZEFER) and the line-up was finished. it was clear that after so many years the writing process was hard and very selective, during that time Miko (drummer) left the band to concentrate on his studies.
In the beginning of 2002 the band contacted the legendary thrash metal producer Harris Johns in order to book him as a producer and his own studio "Spiderhouse" for July 2002 to record their debut album (yet untitled). Harris Johns got his legendary reputation as a producer during the 80's with classic albums such as "Pleasure To Kill" (Kreator) "Agent Orange" (Sodom) "Dimension Hatros" (Voivod) and his work with Helloween, Celtic Frost, Immolation, Protector, Tankard etc..
In order to give a little taste of the album's material the band recorded 1 demo track, titled "Dirty Colored Knife" with the helping hand of Zeev Tananboim (Salem) which will fly with the band to Germany for the recording session to produce the album as well, the recording led to communication with SALEM's high talented drummer Nir Nakav which will take Miko's place behind the drum kit in the album.
The album's material can be described as fast and aggressive yet melodic death metal with thrash elements and twin guitar work, emotionally executed, like a raw and straightforward metallic storm. Conceptually the album's lyrics definitely take no prisoners, dealing with the boundaries of sanity, pain, inner grief and fear, but on the other hand reflect strength, pride and high level philosophical wisdom, mainly written by the band's vocalist Yishai Swearts (and few by ex drummer Miko).
July 2002: Nail Within recorded their debut album at "Spiderhouse Studio" in Lutte, Germany produced by Harris Johns and Zeev Tananboim, the album contains 11 fast thrash/death metal songs, some guest appearences done in the album by Mille Petrozza (Kreator) Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates, Lock Up, The Great Deciever) Robert Gonella (Assassin) Zeev Tananboim (Salem) and Harris Johns himself.
October 2002: Nail Within filmed a Videoclip to "Dirty-Colored-Knife" which will be added to the album as a Cd-Rom track, the video have a crazed psychotic concept and contains redical acts
